Key Idea 6: Are All Greenhouse Gases the Same?

Now that you have learned about the underlying chemistry of atmospheric heating, let’s focus on different greenhouse gases.

You know that a greenhouse gas is capable of absorbing infrared radiation and passing that energy to the gases around it through collisional de-excitation. Do some gases cause more warming than others, or do they all have the same effect?
